Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm)
Current WOSG Champion
The Committee recently received a letter from Mr Ralph Duff whose daughter Megan is a member of the West Girls. We would like to thank Mr Duff for his comments and share some of his words -
"Could I take this opportunity to highlight what fantastic value the £15 membership for WOS girls is. To date this year my daughter has played and thoroughly enjoyed golfing in WOS events at Kilmarnock Barassie, Troon Portland and East Renfrewshire golf clubs. If I was to pay to play these courses as a visitor, I think the combined green fees would cost in the region of £150 to £200."
Association Rules
1 The name of the Association shall be the West of Scotland Girls Golfing Association.
2 Membership of the Association shall be open to any girl resident in the West of Scotland, who is under 18 years of age on 1 January of the current year and has an LGU handicap. Extended membership shall be available to previous members aged 18-21.
3 The Association shall be run by a Ladies Committee consisting of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Past Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary and four Committee members.
4 So far as practicable, the Committee shall represent the four West Counties equally.
5 One Committee meeting shall be held in February and an AGM in September/October of each year, when decisions shall be made by a majority of those present.
6 The Chairman shall take office for two years and have a casting vote.
7 The other officials and members ideally shall take office for no more than five years in any capacity.
8 The practical aim of the Association shall be the organising of medals and matches for Junior Girls with any handicap in the four West Counties: Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire & Argyll, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire.
9 The ideological aim of the Association shall be to enable Junior Girls to meet girls from the other West Counties, to forge links and friendships in a wider area which will prepare them for national and international events and to enhance the golfing ability of girls in the West of Scotland.
10 The Association shall be affiliated to the SLGA and pay any dues thereof.
11 The Committee shall appoint a Captain and Vice Captain each year from the “last year” West girls (under 18 on 1 January).
These Rules embody the generally accepted principles now applicable to the Association. They are not formalised in a Constitution so that changes can be made immediately, as required, to respond to new developments in golf.
